Warm-Weather Riding Tips For Motorcycles
Beating the heat on a motorcycle can be tricky. These vehicles are completely open, meaning they don’t provide any sort of shade or A/C to help you cool off on a hot day. For tips on how to stay cool even when temperatures soar, check out our article below.
Avoid Riding Mid-Day
On extremely hot days, even a small change in temperature can have significant effects on your body. When temperatures are high, we strongly recommend scheduling rides for earlier or later in the day. You’ll be surprised how even just a slight drop in temperature can make riding your motorcycle much more comfortable and enjoyable.
Take Breaks
If you’re making plans to travel around all day, remember that you’ll need to take breaks much more frequently in high temperatures. At minimum, we recommend stopping to rest in the shade for at least 20 minutes after every hour or so of riding. We also recommend stretching regularly during these breaks to keep yourself from becoming exhausted. If your body is exposed to direct sun during your ride, remember to also take a moment to reapply sunscreen during this time to avoid a sunburn.
